Welkom

Want, soos Stephen Leacock beweer: “Writing is not hard. Just get pen and paper, sit down and write as it occurs to you. The writing’s easy. It’s the occurring that’s hard!”

We write to taste life twice.”

Welcome

Welcome to Deadline Poets, the website for cutting-edge poetry – in both English and Afrikaans. Here we celebrate the joyous creativity that language allows us. We frolic in the inventiveness and playfulness of stringing words together. For, as Stephen Leacock claimed: “Writing is not hard. Just get pen and paper, sit down and write as it occurs to you. The writing’s easy. It’s the occurring that’s hard!”

Come join us in pushing the envelope, testing boundaries and just revel in the joy and art of creative writing. Here we are in agreement with Anaïs Nin when she said: “We write to taste life twice.” Seeing as poetry, unlike children should be seen AND heard, we also host regular poetry evenings, where published poets and aspiring poets can rub shoulders and cross-pollinate in an exchange of ideas and views. Carl Sandburg defined poetry as “an echo asking a shadow to dance.”
